Second conditional - tvar If + minulý čas ,would/wouldn´t If I lived in Hawaii, I would go surfing every day. I would go surfing every day if I lived in Hawaii. If = kdyby v druhých podmínkových větách! Předchází-li věta hlavní, není před if čárka. Pořadí vět může být jakékoli, význam vět se nemění.
Second conditional – tvar 1) Sloveso be může být ve tvaru were ve všech osobách: If I/you/he...were taller, ) Would můžeme používat ve staženém tvaru: If I were taller, I´d play basketball. 3) Otázka začíná obvykle větou hlavní: Would you buy a house if you had a million dollars?
Použití: Používáme, když mluvíme o situacích, které jsou méně reálné v přítomnosti nebo budoucnosti. Jedná se o hypotetické úvahy. If I were you, I would ride on bike more carefully. I am not you - this is unreal. If people have wings, they would be able to fly. People don't have wings - that's impossible.
Použití: Podmiňovací způsob používáme také k vyjádření zdvořilé žádosti nebo zdvořilých otázkách v konverzačních situacích: Would you open the window, please? Would you like something to drink?
