Kinematics of a particle 8. Uniform motion – B
1. At uniform motion distance is constant 2. At uniform motion speed is equal to velocity 3. According to Czech textbooks of physics uniform motion can be only rectilinear 4. At uniform motion the graph of speed as a function of time is a line perpendicular to the axis t True or false?

Exercise I At a quarter past eight a motorbike left LA at a speed of 80 km/h. At a quarter to nine a driver of a car set off at a speed of 90 km/h to catch the biker up. At what time did the car overtake the bike? Suppose the motions are uniform. t 1 = 8:15, v 1 = 80 km/h t 2 = 8:45, v 2 = 90 km/h
Solution I At 8:45 the handicap of the car is s = v 1 Δt = 40 km The car is approaching to the motorbike at a speed of 10 km/h relative to the bike Time to cover 40 km at 10 km/h is Bike will be overtaken at 12:45! (360 km from LA)
Exercise II A truck starts from A to B at 60 km/h. At the same moment a bus starts from B to A at 90 km/h. Distance from A to B is 100 km. What time will they meet in? Solution II The bus is approching to the truck at 150 km/h! Time to cover 100 km is t = 100 km ÷ 150 km/h = 2/3 h = 40 min. The cars will meet in 40 minutes.
Exercise III At 11 a.m. a motorbike left A at a speed of 70 km/h. At 1 p.m. a car set off at 120 km/h to catch the biker up. At what time did he succeed? Exercise IV A tractor going at 10 m.s -1 and a car going at 20 m.s -1 are at a distance of 15 km aiming to each other. What distance will the tractor cover before they meet?
