Tutorial: Obchodní akademie Topic: Creating Formulas Prepared by : Mgr. Zdeněk Hrdina Projekt Anglicky v odborných předmětech, CZ.1.07/1.3.09/04.0002 je spolufinancován Evropským sociálním fondem a státním rozpočtem České republiky.
3
Formulas in Excel are equations that perform calculations with data in a given sheet, workbook etc. Each formula begins with =
4
Formulas can contain: ◦ constants – directly inserted numbers, text ◦ cell references – from the same or a different sheet, including absolute, relative or mixed references ◦ mathematical operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, power, brackets, comparison ◦ functions
5
Excel works with mathematical precedence of operators - (e.g. power has a higher precedence than multiplication, multiplication has a higher precedence than addition) Only round brackets are used (unlike square or curly brackets etc. as in mathematics), matching pairs of brackets share the same colour

7
1. direct input from the keyboard ◦ impractical, especially when inserting references from different sheets or workbooks 2. by clicking individual cells on a sheet ◦ only brackets and mathematical operators are inserted directly In both cases, the cells used get coloured
8
Calculating a percentage – when calculating a percentage, a simple procedure is used – the rule of three Exercise: Calculate how many points each person got 1.Calculate the sum of all values 2.The sum is 100 %, divide the points of the first person by the total sum 3.Add an absolute reference to the total sum, because it is necessary to divide by the total sum for all participants 4.Copy to the other cells
9
Use an effective way to fill in the highlighted cells, the setting for cell formatting is given in the task zadani.xlsx
