Australia - geography Australia is the smallest continent in the world. It is also the sixth biggest country in the world. It is located between the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. You can find here high mountains, large deserts and also tropical forests. Many people are surprised by this but in Australia you can go skiing in the mountains. The highest mountain is located in Snowy Mountains and it is called Mount Kosciuszko – m. The best known Australian rock is called Uluru or Ayers Rock – it is 348 m high and it is a sacred place for local Aborigines.
