3  When we want to talk about future we can use: 1) will + bare infinitive 2) be going to + bare infinitive 3) present continuous 4) present simple

4  We can use will + bare infinitive to express future facts or things we believe to be true about the future Today is Monday, tomorrow will be Tuesday. The President will serve for four years. World temperatures will rise.

5  We can use will + bare infinitive to express prediction or beliefs about future we are not so sure about.  We can use expressions such as 'probably', 'possibly', 'I think', 'I hope'. I think the DVD will disappear in ten years. I don’t think the exam will be difficult. Hopefully, you'll visit me in my home one day. It'll probably be a great success.

6  We can use be going to + bare infinitive to make future prediction based on evidence in the present situation. She’s pregnant - she’s going to have a baby. Look at those big black clouds! There’s going to be a storm! And Beckham passes to Owen. He’s going to score. Goal! The traffic is terrible. We're not going to catch our flight.

7  We can use 'will' at the moment of making a decision: Is Jane ready to come? I’m not sure. I’ll call her. Have you got your own tools? Oh, sorry. I haven’t. But I will bring it’s tomorrow.

8  We use be going to when we have decided to do something. We are talking about are intentions and plans. Next year I’m going to study English. This summer I’m going to work abroad. My car is so old! I’m going to buy a new one.

9  We use present continuous to talk about future arrangements, especially when they involve other people and have a time and date. We’re having a party next weekend. I’m not going to out tonight. I’m staying at home. He’s not working tomorrow. They’re playing tennis on Sunday.

10  We use present simple when the future events are part of a schedule or timetable. The summer term begins on 27 February. The train arrives at 7.23 p.m. The film starts at eight, don’t be late.
