Číslo projektu: CZ.1.07/1.5.00/ Vytvořeno: listopad 2013 Ročník: 3. ročník a 4. ročník – čtyřleté gymnázium (RVP-G) Septima a Oktáva – osmileté gymnázium (RVP-G) Anotace: Tento materiál by vytvořen jako téma pro maturitní okruh: ESC. The USA – political system na Gymnáziu a JŠ Svitavy; přibližně na jednu, popřípadě více vyučovacích hodin (pro výklad i opakování – shrnutí učiva). Obsahuje jednak přehled faktografických údajů, tak i anglickou ustálenou terminologii, doplněné o interaktivní cvičení: vzdělávací videa, rozhovory s diskuzí na dané téma (role-play). Je primárně zaměřen na dva poslední ročníky gymnázia, i přesto se dá využít i v nižších ročnících osmiletého i čtyřletého studia vcelku nebo jeho jednotlivé části. 4 GOVERNMENT is based on the Constitution, written in 1787
the first ten amendments were added in 1791 - known as the Bill of Rights the USA is a federation of 50 states each state has its own state government: * a parliament * a governor * a court system

5 The USA is a free democratic country and
a presidental republic the federal government is divided into 3 branches: * the LEGISLATIVE * the EXECUTIVE * the JUDICIAL

6 LEGISLATIVE BRANCH makes the law of the nation
Congress is divided into: * the SENATE (100 members – two from each state – elected for 6 years) * the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (435 members elected for 2 years, the number of representatives is based on the size of the state´s population)

7 EXECUTIVE BRANCH is headed by president president – quiz, photos
*enforces the law passed by Congress *can make laws himself – must be approved by Congress *formulates foreign policy *the head of the State *the head of the Armed Forces *is elected by the people every 4 years *can be re-elected only once *must be a native American and over 35 *lives and works in the White House *his wife is called the First Lady

8 JUDICIAL BRANCH consists of the Supreme Court
9 judges are appointed for life other lower federal courts
