Serial and parallel connection of resistors Resistors may be connected (or arranged): - serial (in a row) - parallel (beside each other).

-in serial order the same current flows in all resistors -voltage is distributed to each resistor according to Ohm’s law -total resistance R c is the sum of the individual resistors Rc = R1 + R2 …..+ Rn

-as a symbol of a parallel connection of resistors we use two lines „||“ -for two resistors connected in parallel you can use the simplified relationship:

-to calculate the combination of a serial and parallel connection we will use the two preceding relationships -for example, the total resistance R c of this circuit is given by:
