Ways to express future 1/ will: I will help you with it. 2/ (to be) going to: They are going to move next month. 3/ present continuous: I am meeting my parents tonight. 4/ present simple: The train leaves at 8 p.m., so don’t be late!

Will We use will when: 1/ you decide to do something at the time of speaking 2/ we promise something 3/ we offer to do something 4/ we ask somebody to do something for us 5/ we often use will with the phrase: “I think…” It is so hot. I will open the window. I will pay you back on Friday. I will help you with the bags. Will you bring me the book? I think it will be a very hot day today.

Will - grammar Po will vždy následuje sloveso v infinitivu bez to: will + verb She will see you now. Otázku tvoříme přehozením will a podmětu: Will she see me now? Zápor tvoříme přidáním not za will: She will not see you now. will not můžeme stáhnout na won´t

2. (to be) going to We use (to be) going to when: 1/ we have already decided to do something 2/ you can see that something is going to happen I am going to spend my holiday in London. He is going to fall.

Going to - grammar (to be) going to + sloveso They are going to buy that new house. Otázku tvoříme přehozením slovesa být s podmětem: Are they going to buy that new house? Zápor tvoříme přidáním not za sloveso být: They are not going to buy that new house.

Practice: 1/ We ________________ (play) that new game tonight. 2/ She ________________ (not pass) the test. 3/ ______ they ___________ (come) to the party? 4/ _____ he ___________ (be) here for Christmas? 5/ I _______________ (help) him. He never helps me either!

3. Present continuous We use present continuous when: 1/ we have already arranged to do something (to meet somebody or to go somewhere etc.) Ex: I’m leaving tomorrow. (= I already have a ticket.) I’m meeting my friends on Saturday. (= I’ve called them and invited them for a game of cards.)

Going to or present continuous? Going to - I plan (intend) to do something, but have not arranged yet Present continuous - Action which is already planned, arranged with other people I am going to buy a house one of these days.

4. Present simple The present simple is often used in connection with travel or other activities that involve a schedule (timetable): Ex: The plane to Paris leaves at 17p.m. and arrives at 19.30p.m. The lesson starts at 9 a.m.
