The future with 'going to' is used to express future plans or scheduled events. It is often used instead of the present continuous for future scheduled work events. Either form can be used for this purpose. This tense is often used with the following time expressions: ... next week / month ... tomorrow ... on Monday, Tuesday, etc.
USE OF GOING TO I’m going to the store. He’s going to eat a pizza. Going to is used to express planned future. PAST PRESENT FUTURE I’m going to the store. He’s going to eat a pizza.
SHORT FORMS It is important to understand that many people do not say “going to," they say its short form “gonna” and it means the same thing. Repeat the following sentences. I’m going to go to the store. I’m gonna go to the store.
