Oskar Schindler (1908-1974) he was German and Nazi in his Schindler´s List, he organized the transfer of Jews from his factory (kitchen utensils) in Poland to his factory in Brněnec near Svitavy thus, he rescued over 1,000 Jewish prisoners during the Second World War after the war, he was awarded for saving human lives and for peace

Valentin Oswald Ottendorfer (1926-1900) was born in Svitavy, then he moved and settled in America but he never forgot about his native town thanks to his financial support– e.g. a hospital, an orphanage were built the most important act he did was the construction and opening of a public library and reading-room that is called the Ottendorfer Library, nicknamed the Red Library loved his mother and had a memorial built – sculpture called Motherhood (in Jan Palach´s Park)

Viktor Felber (1880-1942) born in Svitavy 4. born in Svitavy professor and rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague an active member of the antifascist resistance executed for his activity in home resistance

Alois Petrus (1889-1968) born in Skuteč, died in Svitavy an artist, a carver in wood, specialized in: - toys - puppets - later in carving richly decorated objects also worked with young people and ran puppet theatre until his death

Johann Budig (1832-1915) born in Moravská Třebová, died in Svitavy a major and a Maecenas of Svitavy contributed to the development of the town also a businessman, supported the construction of a power station and he rebuilt an inn into to a hotel Městský dvůr
