Who were the Angles and Saxons? People from north Germany, Denmark and northern Holland Their own lands were often flooded and there was not enough land for everyone Came on ships across the North Sea The Romans called them “barbarians”
How did the Anglo-Saxons live? Most Anglo-Saxons were farmers Lived in family groups in villages/ long wooden houses Lived close to the sea or big rivers/ sailors Destroyed Roman cities – burnt them down Most Anglo-Saxons worshipped many gods and goddesses/similar beliefs to the Celts Most people in Roman Britain were Christians
