3 National cuisine British cuisine has traditionally been limited in its international recognition to the full breakfast, fish and chips, and the Christmas dinner. Other famous British dishes include the Sunday roast and shepherd´s pie. 3

4 Breakfast Traditional British breakfast consists of glass of fruit juice and cornflakes with sugar and milk. Quite a lot of British people now eat muesli or cereals. They drink tea with milk or coffee. 4

5 On the weekend the English have a big cooked breakfast (which is sometimes called brunch – breakfast and lunch together) consisting for example of eggs – hard or soft boiled, scrambled, fried bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes and toast. 5

7 Lunch British lunch is lighter. It is often just a sandwich or salad. Fast food is a typical feature of British life style. The oldest types of fast food are places offering fish and chips. 7

8 Fish and chips Fish and chips is a hot meal of English origin. 8 [2]

9 5 o´clock tea The typical British break is 5 o´clock tea. It is usually fairly strong and eaten together with some cakes or biscuits. 9

10 Dinner The British warm dinner has three or four courses. It consists of soup or some starter, then the main course, which is followed by a dessert and finally sometimes cheese and biscuits are served. As a dessert they may have fruit, fruit salad, pudding or ice cream. 10

11 Supper is a light meal, which the English eat sometimes after the cinema or theatre late at night. 11

12 Sunday roast The Sunday roast is a traditional British main meal that is served on Sundays, consisting of roasted meat, roast potato or mashed potato, with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. Other names for this meal are cooked dinner. 12

14 Shepherd's pie Shepherd's pie is a meat pie with a crust of mashed potato. 14 [4][4]

15 Christmas dinner Christmas dinner in the United Kingdom is usually eaten in the afternoon on 25 December. The dinner usually consists of roast turkey. 15 [5][5]

16 Christmas pudding Christmas pudding is traditionally served on Christmas Day (December 25) as part of the Christmas dinner. 16 [6][6]
