2 Druhý stupeň krátkých přídavných jmen tvoříme přidáním koncovky - er
Např: small – smaller cheap – cheaper slow – slower long - longer K přídavným jménům končícím na – e přidáváme pouze - r Např: large – larger nice – nicer late – later wide - wider

3 U jednoslabičných příd
U jednoslabičných příd. jmen končících na souhlásku po krátké samohlásce zdvojujeme souhlásku a přidáváme - er Např: hot – hotter big – bigger thin – thinner wet - wetter U příd. jmen končících na – y se – y mění na – i a přidává se koncovka - er Např: dirty – dirtier early – earlier easy – easier dry - drier

4 Některá příd. jména se stupňují nepravidelně.
far – further good – better bad - worse Druhý stupeň používáme, chceme-li porovnat dvě věci nebo osoby. Ke srovnání používáme than. Např: Scotland is smaller than England. I am taller than my best friend. An elephant is bigger than a giraffe.

5 expensive – more expensive beautiful – more beautiful
Druhý stupeň víceslabičných přídavných jmen tvoříme většinou opisem pomocí more, kromě těch , která končí na –Y. Např: expensive – more expensive beautiful – more beautiful gorgeous – more gorgeous intelligent – more intelligent 1. Your story is than mine. (interesting) 2. I think that Science is than English. (difficult) 3. Ritz restaurant is than Pebbles Restaurant. (expensive)

9 Třetí stupeň přídavných jmen se tvoří přidáním určitého členu the a koncovky – est.
Pravopisné změny, které se týkají 2. stupně, jsou stejné i pro 3. stupeň. Např: small – the smallest nice – the nicest wet – the wettest heavy – the heaviest Některá přídavná jména se stupňují nepravidelně. good – the best bad – the worst far – the furthest

10 Třetí stupeň používáme, když porovnáváme tři nebo více věcí či osob.
Např: I´m the oldest student in my class. Which subject at school is the worst? Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. Třetí stupeň víceslabičných přídavných jmen se tvoří opisem pomocí the most. Např: expensive – the most expensive intelligent – the most intelligent Who is the most intelligent person in the class?
