is celebrated to remember the workers´ strike in Chicago in 1886; national flags are raised; there used to be parades in the CR before the Velvet Revolution; in Prague, lovers meet at Macha´s statue on Petrin hill; is also a day of lovers who must kiss each other under a blooming cherry tree. Liberation Day 8th May means the end of the World War II in 1945;
Prague was liberated by the Soviet Army; wreaths are laid at memorials of the victims of WWII; national flags are raised. Lilac blossoms became a symbol of this day because Czech people welcomed coming soldiers with it. EU peníze školám CZ.1.07/1.5.00/

St. Cyril and Methodius Day 5th July
is a Christian holiday to remember the arrival of two apostles who brought Christianity to Great Moravia; they used Slavonic language during the masses and developed the Glagolitic alphabet; on this day masses and processions are held in our country; Velehrad in Moravia is the centre of celebrations.
