Znalosti jsou ověřovány prostřednictvím otázek zaměřený nejen na život autora, ale i na rozbor děje jeho hlavního díla. Zahrnuta je i skupinová práce a následný rozvoj mluvních dovedností. Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864) a writer of short stories and novels born in Salem (Massachusetts) grew up in seclusion just with his mother worked as a custom surveyor and United States consul sometimes referred to as American Shakespeare influenced by transcendentalism: dates back to the early 19th century philosophical as well as religious movement led by Ralph Waldo Emerson based on belief that divinity can be perceived everywhere, especially in natural world deep thought and meditation rather than action emphasis on individual choice and symbolism 1

Scarlet Letter set in seventeenth-century Boston (at that time Puritan settlement) it tells a story of a young woman accused of adultery the woman (Hester Prynne) has an illegitimate child and refuses to reveal the identity of her lover as a punishment, she is compelled to wear a scarlet letter A on her breast so that everybody knows that she is a sinner the child's father is a young minister(Reverend Dimsdale) who suffers a lot owing to his guilt Hester's husband finds out who her wife's lover and the father of the child is and begins to tortures Dimsdale Eventually, Dimsdale makes a confession and reveals the fact that it was him who had an affair with Hester. Then , he dies in Hester's arms.
