Characteristic of Hemingway´s work His heroes are soldiers, fishermen, hunters or bullfighters Nobel Prize Literature winner in 1954 Author of 7 novels, 6 short stories and 2 non-fiction works He introduced the term „lost generation“ to mean the people who experienced war and never completely recovered from the traumatic experience

Hemingway´s style Economical and understated style It influenced 20th century fiction Short, abrupt sentences He believed in using understatement in his descriptions He called his style the „iceberg theory“´= the facts float above water, the supporting structure and symbolism operate out of sight
