Alexander Graham Bell Came to history as the inventor of the telephone. He was born in Edinburgh on 3 March 1847. His father was a teacher who worked with deaf children. His mother was deaf as well so he soon became interested in acoustics and ways of communication. EU peníze školám CZ.1.07/1.5.00/34.0154
He studied medicine in London He studied medicine in London. Following his father footsteps he became a popular lecturer and opened a school for the deaf in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1873 he became a professor at Boston university. His greatest invention- the telephone was presented at Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia on 25th June 1876. In 1877 he founded the first ever telephone company. He got 18 patents and participated in other 12. All his life he helped deaf people and supported organisations helping disabled. Thomas Alva Edison Is best known for his invention of a light bulb but actually he got over a thousand of patents in his lifetime and was a successful entrepreneur. He was born on 11th February 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He didn’t go to school because he had a problem hearing and couldn’t follow the teachers. He was educated at home by his mother. As a child he showed a great talent for business and made money in different jobs so that he could invest into his experiments. From 1862 to 1868 he worked as a telegrapher and made important improvements of the telegraph which earned him money to open his first workshop in Newark, New Jersey. He was married twice and had six children. His most famous inventions were the phonograph (1877), microphone (1878), the electric light bulb (1879), electric dynamo(1881) and many more. He founded lots of firms, the most important of which was probably General Electric Company. He was called a wizard but in fact, hard work was behind his successful life.
