On Montgolfier brothers the 4 th July 1783 Montgolfier brothers demonstrated their flight in Paris. airships Balloons couldn´t be controlled so the next step in flying were airships with engines. EU peníze školám CZ.1.07/1.5.00/ Ferdinand von Zeppelin The most famous constructor of airships was Ferdinand von Zeppelin who built and flew his first airship in Unfortunately, airships were unsafe and there was a danger of explosion or fire in result of engine failure. The end of the airship era came in New Jersey on 6 th May 1937 after the disaster of Hindenburg airship which burnt down and all 35 passengers died.
