14 Places of interest – Charles Bridge The oldest bridgein Prague, the iconic landmark is 515 m long, connects Old Town with Lesser Town named after Dating to 1357 and named after its founder King Charles IV. 30 mostly baroque statues (by e.g. M. Braun) - touching the most famous statue of St John of Nepomuk brings good luck

15 Places of interest – Old Town Square Old Town Hall with astronomical clock (= orloj) - statues of the apostles make a mechanical procession on the hour between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Týn Church, the memorial to the Bohemian religious reformer Jan Hus Christmas market The Royal Route led from the Powder Tower through Celetná Street to the Old Town Square, across Malé náměstí to Karlova Street and Křižovnické náměstí, then on the Charles Bridge to Mostecká Street and the Lesser Town Square, up to the Nerudova Street, to Hradčanské náměstí towards the Prague Castle.

19 Other places of interest Vyšehrad Vyšehrad - walled fortification dating to the 10th century and containing several interesting historical sights, such as the Romanesque Rotunda of St. Martin, the Gothic Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, and the Slavin Cemetery, where are the nation’s most famous personalities buried (Mácha, Dvořák, Smetana, Čapek) Petřín viewtower Petřín viewtower - inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, built in 1891, 60 metres high, accessible either by walking up the steep paths of Petřín Hill or by taking the funicular from Újezd

20 Other places of interest The Municipal House – there used to be a royal palace on the spot, today this art nouveau building with interiors decorated by Alfons Mucha. Numerous cafés and shops The National Theatre – built in the 19th century after czech people had raised money for the construction. There are many popular theatres as Stavovské, Divadlo na Vinohradech, Dejvické, State Opera etc.
