Hadoop Distributed File System: rozkládá čtení a zpracování na Hadoop Distributed File System Map Reduce: Software framework pro psaní aplikací, které zpracovávají paralelně data spolehlivým, fault-tolerant způsobem, jednoduchým programovým modelem Data Locality: přesouvá programy k datům pro úsporu přenosu dat Výsledek: čas pro zpracování roste lineárně s velikostí datasetu Doba zpracování ~ objem dat/#nody v HDFS

11 Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
Distributed, scalable, portable file system: NameNode (primary and secondary) manages DataNodes Replicates data across DataNode machines in case of hardware failures, but the NameNode a single point of failure Understands how to work with compressed data (gzip/bz2/lz0/lz4/snappy) HDFS provides awareness of the data location to the jobtracker and tasktracker, which allows map/reduce jobs to be distributed to, and ran on, the server where the data is stored.

12 Hadoop MapReduce Jobs composable as computations over key-value pair datasets Data Locality: when using HDFS, compute and data are on the same node, which allows processing to be ran on the node that the data resides on. MapReduce has a single maser JobTracker and each node has a Tasktracker. The JobTracker schedules jobs on the nodes, and is also responsible for re-executing any failed tasks. Jobs are typically written in Java, but high-level languages exists that ‘compile’ to MapReduce: Pig and Hive Streaming allows MapReduce in any language (C#, F#), but sacrifices functionality

Hive projects a structure onto Hadoop data and allows the data to be queried using a SQL-like language called HiveQL. MapReduce programmers can still use custom mappers and reducers with HiveQL.
